My name is Randi Brown, and I am in the Education Specialist Degree program for Instructional Technology at Kennesaw State University. I began the program Summer 2013 and will graduate Summer 2014. I graduated from Valdosta State University in 2002 with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Immediately after graduation in the fall, I began teaching Kindergarten at Stringfellow Elementary School. At the end of that school year, I moved to Orlando, Florida where I taught 3rd grade for the next three years. I moved back to Georgia in the summer of 2006 and began teaching at J.M. Odom Elementary School in the fall. I taught 3rd and 5th grades over the next six years. During this time, I received my Master's Degree in Reading Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University as well as my gifted endorsement.
I am currently an Instructional Technology Specialist for Colquitt County Schools. I love working with both teachers and students and being able to share the many ways that technology can be used in the classroom. For this reason, I was led to Kennesaw State University's Specialist Degree program in the Department of Instructional Technology. My ultimate goal is to obtain a job as a technology director and to improve upon the job that I currently do.
This portfolio is designed for me to demonstrate mastery of the PSC Instructional Technology standards and the ISTE NETS-C standards. There are a series of links under my name at the top of this page that you can visit. These links will give additional information about my work and experiences throughout this degree program. One of the most important links is the "STANDARDS" link. This link will guide you to a series of artifacts and reflections documenting the work I have completed during this program as they relate to the ISTE NETS-C standards. Each artifact represents mastery of the standard under which it is represented.
My experience at Kennesaw State University has been very positive and professional. I truly feel that I am well prepared to integrate technology into any classroom. I am now better able to assist other educators in using technology along with providing professional learning opportunities for them.
